IM Japan

IM Japan is an apprenticeship program which is the result of collaboration between the Ministry of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia and the International Manpower Development Organization, Japan (IM Japan). Started in 1993, this program has graduated more than 45,000 alumni.

The main aim of this program is to improve the technical competence (hard skills) of participants according to their vocation or position. Apart from technical competency, this program also aims to improve participants' soft skill competencies, especially in terms of work ethic, discipline, responsibility and entrepreneurial spirit.

  • Male Age 18 to 26 Years (SMK Teknik)
  • Male Age 18 to 26 Years (SMK non Teknik & SMA)
  • Minimum height 160 cm
  • Minimum body weight 50 kg
  • Eyes Are Not Color Blind
  • Eyes Not nearsighted (Minus)
  • Not tattooed
  • Not Piercing
  • Has no history of bone fractures
  • Never participated in an internship program in Japan before
  • Healthy (Based on MCU Results)

Recruitment and Selection Process IM Japan

The recruitment process uses a knockout system, meaning that participants who do not successfully pass one stage will be declared unable to take part in the next stage. Students who pass the interview stage will wait for the results to be announced from IM Japan Central and DISNAKER Central.

After being declared passed, participants must undergo a Medical Check Up which includes blood, urine, feces, eyes, lungs, heart, liver, kidney tests and drug tests. The examination also includes detection of diseases such as gout and HIV/AIDS to ensure the participant's overall health.

Prospective Internship Participants must pass the Basic Mathematics Test with a total of 20 questions and are given 15 minutes of processing time. And the number of answers that must be correct is 14 questions.

  • Prospective Internship Participants will take a Physical Endurance Test;
  • Run 3 km in 15 minutes
  • Push-Ups 35 Times
  • Sit-Up 25 Times

Final selection stage. Intern participants will go through an interview selection and check personal document files ranging from KTP, Family Card, Elementary to High School/Vocational School diplomas. This includes performance and general knowledge.

Training Stages

Participants who pass recruitment will undergo training for 70 days. The costs of food and lodging during this training are borne by the participants.

Participants will undertake Centralized Training at CEVEST Bekasi for 90 days. Food and lodging costs during this training are free.

Departure to Japan

Participants who have completed Phase 2 training will be sent to Japan and placed in the receiving company for 3 or 5 years according to the contract before leaving.

Program Benefits

After successfully completing the apprenticeship program, IM Japan program participants will receive an Independent Business Allowance of 600 thousand yen (equivalent to 70 million rupiah, depending on the yen exchange rate against the rupiah) for those who complete 3 years, and 1 million yen (equivalent to 110 million rupiah) for those who complete a 5 year contract.
